Shinmyo Blacksmith Shop
Founded by his great-grandfather in 1882 (Meiji 15), he naturally became a blacksmith after working at a steel works while helping his father, the third generation of his family, from an early age. He has been involved in the restoration of many floats in Takayama. Shinmyo-san is the fourth generation of this family.
 
Currently, he is involved not only in the restoration of Takayama Festival floats, but also in the repair of floats commissioned from all over Japan, as well as a team of traditional craftsmen living in Takayama called the Yatai Preservation Craftsmen's Association.
In this experience plan, after listening to a story in Mr. Shinmyo's workshop, you will create a metal paperweight. Because the work requires the use of special tools, the number of people who can experience the work at one time is limited to two.
